Forestry fall field school for first year students and others entering the forestry program was a huge success! 6 days out in the bush in western Alberta with 17 students and 4 instructors. We discussed and experienced forest ecology, harvesting operations, mill tours, silviculture, wildlife, fire detection and much more. We also spoke with representatives from 4 different forestry companies who all stressed the importance of summer employment and applying for jobs early in the year. Great introduction to forestry and hopefully the start of some new friendships.
